The Nevada State Prison Preservation Society works to preserve and share the history of the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City, one of the oldest prisons in the West. Through guided tours, special events, educational programming and preservation efforts, the nonprofit helps visitors explore the prison’s role in Nevada history, from statehood and architecture to corrections, community and local lore. It’s also home to a platinum rated haunted house, Dark Prison Haunts, one of the top haunted houses in the country.

Nevada State Prison is located at 3301 E. 5th Street in Carson City, Nevada.

We are open every Saturday from May through October (excluding holidays) and for special events. Hours of operation are subject to change.
