The Dangberg Home Ranch began as a log cabin surrounded by sagebrush. Today, it preserves an essential chapter in Nevada ranching history. Heinrich F. Dangberg, a German immigrant, came to Carson Valley in 1856 and prospered. He and his descendants built a ranching empire that came to include 48,000 acres. In 1905, the family founded the town of Minden and spearheaded the establishment of a bank, a hotel, and several agricultural businesses. The story of the Dangberg family provides a fascinating glimpse into Carson Valley’s ranching heritage and the lives of its most influential family. The site includes eight historic structures built between 1857 and 1917. Guided tours take visitors through the main residence, filled with thousands of artifacts that help tell Nevada’s ranching story. To make tour reservations (required), call 775-783-9417. The park hosts a variety of events and is available for weddings and other private rentals.
